Unbelievable: a landmark win for a NHS whistleblower Ramon Niekrash, surgeon who stood up against poor patient care in a target driven management style of the current NHS.
Unbelievable: Ramon Niekrash was suspended for “excessive” letter writing. Mr Niekrash sent letters which detailed cancelled appointments for about 20 cancer patients to the Strategic Health Authority.
Unbelievable: In an attempt to rescue his reputation, he took his case to an employment tribunal. "There was a conspiracy to get rid of me. It was rotten as could be, right to the top. It was so wrong that I had to vindicate myself and take the huge costs on the chin. Obviously lots of people, people with kids, porters, nurses, couldn't do that."
He won. The accusatory letters, from Anneliese Weichart and Dr Sharon Power, were dismissed as defamatory by the judge.
“Dr Sharon Power, the former clinical surgeon director at the hospital, had said of him: ‘I’d just like him not to come back, I’d just like him to be in chains on a plane in Heathrow back to Australia
Utterly unbelievable!!!
GMC: Mr Niekrash asked the General Medical Council to investigate Dr Power and Dr Robson for failing to act within the medical code of conduct. No case to answer, said the GMC, but it has since been asked to reconsider.
