NHS vs Private AQPs: Nappies & Insurance!

Imagine a new mother saying to the baby: I don't do nappies (or diapers) and I go out three nights in a week. You will be on your own then.

So you get an AQP nanny in and she said: I don't do nappies either and I love my evenings.

So you get the original old fashioned once-upon-a-time mother Grandma in:

Yes, I will do nappies and just about everything else.

She was like our old NHS.

Even  if you want to pay for your Health Insurance, they still will not cover everything and Grandma will have to do it, sorry, NHS hospital will have to.

Unless of course there is proper legislation.

Why is King's Fund, McKinsey and others not recommending tightening on Health Insurers? Perhaps the lobby is too strong. After all, in the US, the CEO of UnitedHealth is the highest paid CEO in 2011 according to Forbes.

Why not legislate to rein in Health Insurers?
  • Ends discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions.
  • Limits premium spread to normal, high risk and healthy risk to say under 20% either way of normal.
  • Limits premium discrimination based on gender and age.
  • Prevents insurance companies from dropping coverage when people are sick and need it most.
  • Caps out-of-pocket expenses so people don’t go broke when they get sick.
  • Eliminates extra charges for preventive care.
  • Contribute to an ABTA style cover.
  • Must cover every condition.
